
1874
The ancient chronicle tells us about four races on September the
14th, 1874, for the Local Agricultural Meeting, three trots and one gallop, granted
with 145 Francs (437 € today).
1890
Deposit of the statutes of the "Société des
Courses du Lion d'Angers", under the presidency of the
Count Christian de TREDERN.
1922
Creation of the "Société Hippique Lionnaise" on
the initiative of the local Festival Committee, with Mr Henri
BARBIN in the chair.
1945
Fusion of the two Races Societies under the presidency of the
Count Bertrand de CHARNACE. Mr J. GRANDIERE and Mr H. BOURGEONNEAU
are vice-presidents. The Countess de TREDERN gives her agreement
for a return to Isle Briand.
1946
New facilities a the Racecourse thanks to a loan of 500.000
Francs (34 725 €). Mr Arsène THIBAULT draws
tracks, creates obstacles, stands and huts
for "Paris Mutuel" (horse races betting).
1970
Acquisition of the Isle Briand Domain by the General Council
of Maine-et-Loire.
1972
Creation of new tracks on the initiative of Mr Guy de CHARNACE
and Mr Maurice FOUCHER.
1975
Creation of the hard built stands, weigh room, watchtower,
cloakrooms, betting-hall with Mr André SAULOU in
the chair.
1986
Enlarging of the stands with Mr Etienne FRACHON in the chair.
1988
Creating the computerised watering of the tracks.
1992
Installation, with in the chair Mr Alain PELTIER, of a decennial
program of modernization including stands, panoramic restaurant,
conference rooms, cloakrooms, carparks and one undred boxes...
From now on, the racecourse is classified as "Regional
Pole" and organizes meetings for P.M.U.
and Quintés.
1993
Exceptional "Day of Gallop" under the aegis of the European
Funds of Breeding. Three P.M.U. races were programmed (decentralization
test). URBAN SEA, forthwinner of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
(3 months later), won the main race.
2005
Creation of the longest Steeplechase Cross-country race in
the World: : ANJOU-LOIRE
CHALLENGE, along the distance of
7.300 meters (8 000 yards).
2008
2008 Extension and Reorganization of the whole of the public and professional installations (heightened terraces, technical room and of reception)
